Nabuk

The nabuk is a type of leather characterized by a superficial treatment that gives it that particular velvety appearance. It is made, specifically with the external part of the leather (grain) and this is why, in general, it turns out to be quite resistant and long-lasting, while remaining, however, extremely delicate.

The nabuk, therefore, must be cleaned by carefully following some important tips, in order to avoid committing irreparable damage and definitively ruining it.

Leather for belt

The belt skin should be stiff and not elastic, little prone to stretching, of considerable length and thickness. To meet these basic requirements the most suitable leather is a vegetable-tanned beef skin. Some parts of an adult cow best meet all the needs and that is why these large skins are divided into more homogeneous parts.

Split leather

Each skin has in its section two parts from which you get two products and therefore two possibilities of use. The part that is on the outer surface of the dermis is the most valuable part and is called "flower"; the innermost part, obtained through the splitting of the skin, on the other hand, is called "crust skin" and is still well usable. The crust is a skin that does not have the part of the flower, is therefore less valuable and has limitations in its use,  but at the same time also has some peculiarities that can be enhanced. It is mainly used for reinforcements and interiors or as an upper for shoes.

Leather to Kilo

Remains, cutouts, scraps and leather scraps, small or large, ideal for craft projects. These leather scraps come from the best Italian leather factories and tanneries. We personally take care of the division
by color, print and quality in order to make it easier for
our customers to use.

Full-grain leather

Full-flower skin is a skin whose surface or grain has not been altered in any way, except for the removal of the hair. Natural marks such as scratches or stretch marks are visible and are in fact considered the signature of a fine skin. Only 10-15% of all skin can be finished in this way given the quality that must have the starting skin.

Frosted leather

To get frosted skin the skin flower is abraded to eliminate noticeable defects. The surface is then restored with a print that reproduces the design of the different types of grain of the flower. Finally, the surface is finished with the application of pigmented resins in watery dispersion.

Vegetable leather

A centuries-old tradition that Tuscan artisans have handed down from generation to generation and which, in the 21st century, continues to be used for the processing of leather: it is vegetable tanned leather, a technique that is used today by exploiting the modern technological innovations. It is a natural process that respects the animal, the harmony of nature and exploits the technical knowledge acquired on the leather. In addition, the processing takes place without twisting the leather or treating it aggressively. The leather used for this processing derives from cattle selected for the food industry and this means that no animal is killed to benefit the tanning process.

Vegetable tanned leather is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers: the processing, in fact, is carried out without the use of toxic substances, chemicals or heavy metals.

Leather for sole

  • breathability: the leather soles allow the foot to breathe, helping to keep the environment inside the shoe cool and dry. They are therefore the ideal complement to a shoe made of vegetable tanned leather with tannin and with an internal lining in the same material;

  • resistance: the leather sole resists the roughness of the ground and perforation, and is able to affix an effective barrier between the foot and the ground;

  • thermal regulation: the leather sole allows a good temperature regulation. A fundamental detail, especially in summer shoes;

  • avoids "shock": shoes are often rubbed on fabrics and other surfaces, thus creating an electrostatic shock.

  • no allergies: leather is a material that presents very limited risks of allergies or other contraindications for the health of the consumer;

  • maintenance: once worn, the leather soles can be resoled. A detail far from secondary, because in fact it extends the life of the product making the shoe a lasting good.
